Vermont, etc.

I have been M.I.A. recently, mainly due to the fact that I have three jobs now and I have been working really hard interning for an artist representative, Suzanne Schultz.

The lovely Suzanne in all her glory.

However, I have been slaving away in my art studio when I can. I even had a Territorial-like trip to Home Depot at the edge of Somerville and Boston which reminded me a little too much of the trauma of Leroy Merlin in Paris(shudder). Then after returning home to find that my crossbar was half a centimeter too short I sawed it myself like I should have to begin with. Then I stretched my canvas and despite my cautionary past experiences, still managed to skin one of my knuckles.

But, the painting has begun!

I also went to Ludlow, Vermont a few weeks ago and of course I took advantage of the scenery (and Cara's hot tub).

Friday night, 4th night in a row after starting the oils on Tuesday

In the meantime, I couldn't help but make a disturbing self-portrait.

August Poetry

8/20/10

Your beauty is so great.
I want only to paint
and embrace you.
I am lost wondering
how to honestly face, truly,
and forward into your gaze,
simply and naturally,
free of hesitation,
free of wandering,
and questioning what's under me.

8/24/10

Free me, blue room,
filled with the blinking ghosts
of family heir looms,
crowding the dead empty space.

It is the great day
of phone calls and cake,
of feeling not enough,
of wanting more
yet receiving nothing necessary,
of lacking and looked forward to.

Oh, blue room,
ring the bells
of true freedom.
Open the casket for me.
These walls are simply here.
The torch is simply burning
and it is my hand that is holding.
